At the LogiMAT 2025, the steute business division Leantec will be demonstrating how its automated material requisition system "nexy" assumes tasks within automated guided vehicle system-based intralogistics. The latest version of nexy provides numerous new functions and can also be installed and operated as an "on-premise" version without its own hardware. It additionally facilitates data exchange with commercially available fleet management systems.
A typical application case for nexy is the detection of free parking slots for pallets or the monitoring of stacking heights on various load carriers. In this case, laser sensors measure the precise distance from the load carrier. If it exceeds or falls below an individually determined threshold value, the system can tell e.g. whether a large load carrier (LLC) is in a parking slot and - if so - how many layers are stacked upon it. The relevant data are transmitted via the nexy wireless network and a Sensor Bridge to the user's material flow management. This system enables automated material requisition to be integrated seamlessly in existing processes and increases intralogistic efficiency.
The latest version of nexy, which steute will be presenting at the LogiMAT 2025, facilitates data exchange with commercially available fleet management systems such as Agilox, Idealworks, M. Hartwall, MHP and Synaos. This means that a continuously updated "digital twin" of the situation in the warehouse, consignment zones and assembly areas is always available. This uninterrupted flow of information also includes mobile transport units – automated guided vehicles (AGV) and/or autonomous mobile robots (AMR).
The advantage from the user's point of view: individual AGV can be requested automatically, transfers can be monitored precisely, and the vehicle fleet can be used efficiently and to full capacity. This avoids material shortages, as well as excess parts at assembly points. Assignment errors impacting AGV, materials and storage slots can be prevented. And: if assembly, production or consignment processes should change, the user can adapt the system to the new situation quickly and flexibly.
It is for precisely this use case that steute Leantec has developed a preconfigured application facilitating rapid set-up of nexy and seamless integration in the IT infrastructure of material flow and fleet management systems. This application will be presented at the LogiMAT, as well as the latest features expanding the potential uses of nexy. They include new logical functions and a dashboard which visualises the operational status of the complete system with all sensors and actors. Also new is the option to operate the Sensor Bridge in a non-hardware "Docker only" version, i.e. as an on-premise installation on the user's IT platform.
Another nexy benefit which will be presented at the LogiMAT is the parallel operation of different customer applications, which all jointly use the wireless infrastructure and corresponding Access Points. This enables customers to use the existing infrastructure in many different ways in order to meet different material flow requirements. Examples include the supply of replenishments via eKanban racks (which can also be mobile), the management of rolling racks (dollies), or the transfer of load carriers and packages from stationary conveyors to automated guided vehicles (AGV) and vice versa. This innovative solution permits users to exploit their existing infrastructure and manage their material flow efficiently and flexibly.
